Signals for Training

I was cleaning the living room. I found this on rocking chair. Wow... Mikaela drew those. I wasn't sure if it was for Sunshine or Brownie. At my best guess it is for Sunshine. I will ask her when she gets home from school this afternoon. I will update this evening.

She always wants to be a trainer and animals recuser. That shows me how much she really want to be one. She will go Sunshine's classes starting in June. Hopefully, she will benefits from it and as well for us. :o)

Wanted a new sister

Last night, Mikaela asked me when will I get baby. I was like huh? Baby? She said - I want a new sister! Hollie and I explained that we will not have any more sister or brother. She was upset about it. We felt bad and we wish we could produce more babies. We would love to expand more kids in the family. I asked - what if its a brother? She said - no - no brother!! I need a sister! I wanted to name her Molly. I asked - what would you name a new brother? She kept saying - NO BROTHER! Only a sister!!

ha ha.. Poor kid!

All about Mikaela

Mikaela! What can we say about her? She is unique. Each child is unique and special! She is KODA. She knows – her parents are deaf and has two moms. She is mischievous girl! She loves to play! She is also very sensitive kid! She cry easily. But she could stand strong and be stubborn. She will tell you what she thinks she is right once a while (it has been increasing lately - yikes). She loves to ask questions. She loves to chit n chat!

She loves dragons and horses. She asked me – why not many girls like dragons? (How am I going to answer her question?) I said – many girls like different things.

She thinks she is a dragon rider! I think she is! She knows a lot about dragons and I don’t. (I have to keep up and learn many new things about dragons) She enjoys fairytales – knight (girl as she emphasized) with a dragon and fairies. (Jane and the dragon – but they don’t have fairies).

She loves to play soccer. She enjoyed many different things but like soccer better. She is more of runner (probably from a donor – I don’t like to run). She loves to RUN! If she sees an open space, she will run! Even in an office! She is having a hard time to control herself – not to run in the house or in a small space area.

She loves ARTs! She loves to drawing, painting and making cards. She also does scrapbooking. She loves to go shopping for scrapbook supplies. She couldn’t wait for school to start this fall as kindergarten. She said she wants to take art and music classes. We told her that she will be taking several classes like math, science, social studies, writing, reading, all those different kind of things. She is ok with it.

Many of our friends, families and even strangers were surprised that Mikaela loves to wear dress! (Stereotypes of having two moms- probably is the issue). She loves to have her hair long. She wouldn’t allow me to take her to hair cut unless we make an agreement – like only cut ½ inches off.

She doesn’t like to go bed at night. She scared of many things – dark, monster, etc… It has been for probably 2 years now. We noticed that she’s improving and accepting to go bed from time to time. She still prefers to have one of us to sleep with her. Mama has been doing that for a while.

She is our joy! She told us that she wants to own a fitness center for all ages.

Oh no!! Not on this BED!

Who did this? We automatically knew who did this. It has name on it! We called Mikaela into her bedroom as we wanted to talk with her about this. She said, "I did it, we are going cruise tomorrow!" We kept telling her - get back to the point - but she said the same thing over again. We asked her why? Then she started the story pointing on the bed frame.

There is a story on it from the beginning to end. First one - Mikaela - and - Brownies and Nanabear (love them and make sure babysitter take care of them real good) The second picture - Love and caring the whole family. The third picture - Family in the van - you'll notice a line to the next picture which is driving toward. The last picture - we all are on the R Family Cruise.



Aww -- Touchy but not on this bed!!! With the BLACK ink PEN! Oh gosh, How am I going to take them off? Help? Any ideas? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Deaf become Hearing?

Mikaela was wondering and decided to ask me... Can deaf become hearing? I explained to her that I born deaf and can not be fixed. She said... But Doctor CAN! I explained that doctors can not fix everything... only few things. She said it was not fair! I decided to ask her - why do you ask? She said ... I want you to hear me sing and the music that she made. I told her that you can sing anything you want no matter if I can hear or not. It will always make me proud of you to sing any songs. I added - you can sign a song once a while. She smiled.

It touched my heart. I do feel bad but I born to be deaf for a reason. If she wants to be a musician - then its ok with me. I want her to do anything she wants to do (in a good way ;o) ) and I will always be proud of her.

Flu Shot appointment lead to other...

Flu Shot scheduled ended up getting the appointment turned the table around!!!

Today, our kids were scheduled to have flu shot. First of all, Mikaela turned 5 and need to have "5" years old check up. Dr. D checked Mikaela and Everything looks good! Dr. D looked at Kyron and looked puzzled. She asked me - how long did Kyron have cold? I said - since Friday. She asked - any fever? I said once - Saturday night (Sunday early early morning). She said ok... then took her stethoscope on him. She stood up and said - I'm going to get nebulizer for him. (In my mind - WHAT??? WHAT is she saying?? Nebulizer - a breathing treatment for my BOY! - F**K! Something is not right!!) Nurse came and said - he will be needing breathing treatment immediately as he is dealing with severe wheezing. (Of course as a mother - would say yes - sure anything to make my boy feel better - I was worried!) He ended up having to take breathing treatment. He wasn’t happy at all but cooperated. After 10 minutes later, Dr. D came and checked on him and said – I’m not satisfied and he will need one more breathing treatment. He is still wheezing. (In my mind – you gotta be kidding!!) . He took it again! He cooperated – bless his heart! Finally Dr. D checked and said – much better! Finally we can go home! We were suppose to be there for Kyron to get a flu shot but ended up with breathing treatments.
Dr D wrote a note to me saying – NO FLU SHOT TODAY for Kyron – just Mikaela and she will need varivax (sp?) also. Kyron will have to continue aubuterol medicine by taking breathing treatment for every 3 hours today and tomorrow – every 4 hours as well will need to take pulmicort in the afternoon (one time a day) then every 6 hours on Wednesday. Plus antibodic ( I forgot what it is. as Hollie took Rx to get medicine).

The whole scene sure brought my memories BACK! When Mikaela was only 13 weeks old, she was taken to hospital for severe wheezing. She had ongoing breathing treatment (on and off - depends on 'her attack' or ‘when she was wheezing') until around 3 1/2 years old. I remembered I had to hold the mask to cover Mikaela's mouth and nose for 10 - 15 minutes... for every 3 hours, then 4 hours then at last every 6 hours (depending on condition). I was praying so hard that it’s just one time thing for Kyron. In the past, when I hold the mask on Mikaela - my mind was racing - is that medicine safe for my kid? Will that medicine shut her growth especially with some of steroids medicine and pulmicort. (not all the time) - often aubuterol. All those crazy things come to my mind. AND it happened again with Kyron today. I asked Dr. She said- it doesn’t do much harm but HELP him to breathe better. I have to research more on it.

Poor Mikaela, she had been so good – patience with me and Kyron. I asked – her – what would she like to have for dessert? She picked brownies so I paged Hollie to get brownies for dessert and other things for dinner. Kids and I ended up staying in the doctor office for over 2 hours! Dr. asked me an interesting question – If it wasn’t for Flu Shot appointment – Will I bring him to dr? I simply said – no. He was active; his appetite was good and all that. Just cold and congested.. Dr agreed and said I’m glad that he’s here! He must have that treatment now! I said – if not then what? Dr said it could be fine or for worse. I want him to be VERY fine than go for worse. Kyron didn’t have his flu shot and I’m happy that he has been treated for his severe wheezing. That’s suck being deaf! I can’t hear his wheezing. Dr. D, she also asked me question – how does he sleeps? Not so good for few nights now. She smiled! (WTF…she smiled!) I had to ask! Why? She said – Kyron wasn’t sleeping well because he has stuffy in his nose and “lungs”. In my mind – could it lead to SIDS? Then Dr. D said – it could lead to SIDS as he couldn’t breathe well. Now I probably will never go sleep! The good news is that he kept me wake most of night when he couldn’t “feel” comfortable with himself.

That is scary moment but I know he’s going to be fine. But I'm glad that it had happened today.

Future Interpreter???

My princess Mikaela, yesterday it was her last day of preschool. I was driving (on way to pick her up) and I remembered it was show and tell day. Ah shit! She doesn’t have anything to show and tell. (Stupid Stupid mother!!!). I saw a library book on the floor - Why not! So I took library book and took Kyron with me to her classroom as fast as I can.

I saw Mikaela has a pen. A pen!! She is going to do show and tell with a PEN! I tapped her shoulder, she was so happy to see me… I asked - whats up with PEN? She wanted to show the class that pen is mommy’s pen and love that pen. (bless her heart! - she found my pen in her backpack) I asked her if she would prefer to have the library book to show and tell. She was so happy. When it comes to her turn, She was so proudly stand and show the book… The book - “I miss you, stinky face“. Mikaela explained to the class why she loves that book. The DRAGON brought mama home! Dragon! Teacher decided to read out loud the book to the class. All of sudden, Mikaela stood up and signed to the class what teacher said from the book. (I was shocked! I had to feel my pulse - good news it is beating). She never did that before. She did a very good job! Future interpreter? All kids love that book! It’s really a cute book.

One specialist (something related to IEP thing - One of kids in Mikaela’s class has special needs - I couldn’t figure out what it is. Anyway… She came to me and started talking how she proud of Mikaela and its amazing that she knows signs. She also asked - How did she knows signs? I simply smiled and said - I’m deaf and can you repeat what you said please. (I understood her at first place…) She got off guard and said - no wonder why Mikaela so fluently with signs. I said - thanks and what did you said at the right beginning. She was kindly enough and repeat what she said to me at the beginning. I smiled and said thanks you and now you know why she’s signing. She said - she’s in awe of Mikaela.

Good Job Mikaela! Mommy will always proud of you my princess dragon (she will be upset if I say princess and didn’t add dragon in it - my girl!)

thomas the train and costume

After dinner, I told h - that I'm in mood to walk around. Mikaela suggested us to go Toys R Us. Of course - kids love that store! We all went in and we agreed we will just look and walked around. Mikaela found a halloween costume that she wanted. Checked the price (Dang - its much cheaper than on line that I almost order today - whew - save 18.00!!!) Went ahead and get it.
During that time, Kyron was so happy and his eyes were so WIDE!!! Pointing at one special costume that he couldn't resist or get out of his sight. It was Thomas the Train. He LOVES it very much. H and I thought it was so cute and not bulky as we saw some kids with bulky train out front of belly last year. That one - flat and so cute.. So we went ahead and get those for Kyron. He couldn't let it go! He always stare all thomas the train sets (shelves filled with thomas the train). We realized that he doesnt have one train at home. WE looked for a good reasonable price. Finally we found one and He is very happy with it! (Gosh - Why the price so expensive!! that item is so small! - urgh...) Of course, Mikaela said - where is mine? I want a new toy since Kyron is getting a train. So We went to the "girly" area... Mikaela saw a horseland horses. She got it. Finally we got out and told H that is not walking around!! LOL...

Will post when kids wearing the costume in Oct. Can't WAIT!!! We just put them on today. My gosh... Kids are growing up! Mikaela is going to be Drama Queen Pirate! Kyron - of course thomas the train - so cute!!!! He wouldn't take it off - BIG MISTAKE!!!! He threw fit! a BAD ONE! I ran and get his shirt that has thomas the train on it.. He is happy boy again! Whew...

Kyron was sleeping with Thomas the Train. I took it away from him, HE WOKE up and said NOOO!! 0k - my master!! :o)

At least he sleep soundly so everyone is...

Labor Wknd Camping

We got back from camping. Perfect WEATHER!! Sunny and Warm... Why are we return back home? Urgh... We should've stay there for one more night! :oP

As soon as we arrived to our sites. H asked me to take picture of K - he was so cute when he sleeps. I took camera out and turned it on. F*&K!! No memory card in my friggin camera!!! I told H - must go and buy memory card! We went Wal-Mart to buy a new memory card for my idiot camera! (good thing it was on sale! Whew...)

We stopped Assateague Island - Beautiful island!!! Filled with Wild Ponies! Highly recommended to go there... They have beach and campground.

Omg.... A cute blond - blue eyed - deaf boy R was having fun with Mikaela at the pavilion (children music event). He told Mikaela, "You are so cute!" Mikaela was beamed with a big smile and said "thank you!" R told Mikaela that he will see her tomorrow morning. (Sorry boys - Mikaela is not avaliable at this moment.... She is toooo young to date anyone... sorry R!)

In the next morning, R did stopped by and visited Mikaela. (what a cute couple .... but NO!! sorry R, Mikaela can not date anyone that including you R.)

They were so funny. R asked Mikaela if she could go with him to go for ride with his dad and Am on golf cart. (ummm... ok with supervision!)

Food - yummies! Especially Smores in banana!

Kids enjoyed their time there so we were too. We plan to go there again. Waterpark on the campground - perfect.... plus (yeewww) fishing up the pier. Mikaela was so exciting to go on her first fishing with mama.

There is a Broadwalk in Ocean City. We didn't go as we brought our dog along with us. Don't want leave her in TT. Next time, we will go Broadwalk (next year).

We met some deafies there. Nice to see them... Mikaela was thrilled as she had a friend T that she hasn't seen her for a while. They played at the waterpark. WE are planning to go on next camping trip in October. :o) Halloweeeeen Fun fun!

orientation day - mikaela - preschool

Mikaela was so happy - she will go back to school :o) This picture was taken few minutes before we took off to visit her "school"

We went to Mikaela's school for orientation day. It went pretty well... They explained what to expect for this year. Wow... my baby - now is a big girl. They expect a lot! I had several questions to ask and they answered them all! I told them you both (two teachers) will see more often with a lot of questions. They smiled and said, "we know."

I told Mikaela - you're big girl now! She said, "Yes and I'm going to be 5 in few weeks." I said - in few months! Urgh.. *wiped my tears*

We came home and found Kyron was sleeping on the floor - cute - he does not sleep on the floor! I think its because the babysitter had a son J on her. She tried to tell Kyron to lay down with her and her son J. Kyron kept telling her - no. He fell asleep.

He must dreaming about BIG TRUCKS! He loves that book!

Mikaela said - oh no... Turkey - had ran away from the farm. I explained her that turkey is WILD and live in WOOD. She said - no. Turkey lives in the farm. I explained to her that some turkey do lives in the farm or zoo and do live in wood like bear.

Now he's a big boy. Breaking my heart and same time proud of him for being a big boy.

As soon as we arrived home, we decided videophone Hollie. She saw Kyron's hair. She CRIED! and said ... he's a big boy... I miss his curls.

We don't know if he will have curls back. We will know when it grows.

No Fear - Mikaela

Mikaela now has no fear to ride her bike again. Whew! Now, she is being annoying! She kept asking me - can we go bike ride now? When can we go bike riding?

Last Friday, It was so hot outside. We thought it would be a good idea for kids to ride bike at Gallaudet Campus as they have many area of shades. Her friend A and Mikaela enjoyed their time riding bike.

MIKAELA RODE HER BIKE!!!!

She refused to ride her bike almost 2 years (Fall 2005). She had a very BAD fall with her bike. She refused ride her bike ever since. She wanted Hot Wheel Barbie so we decided to get her one.

Today, we went to playground. Mikaela's friend A came with her bike. Mikaela said she wanted to ride hot wheel. I told her that I'm not going to walk with you with your hot wheel to A's house. I suggested her to take her bike. She said, "I'm afraid that I will fall again." I told her, "Honey, I know you do still have a small fear but I think you're ready and I will be right beside you." She said, "Okay." She hopped in and riding her bike. I jogged by her (out of breath -- oh boy...) she said stop stop so I grabbed her bike. She said, "I'm not afraid... I'm having fun!!!" That when I teach her how to brake the bike. She did an outstanding job.

Mikaela asked me what am I doing. I explained what I'm doing... She reminded me that she did fell once. When she tried to get into curb to driveway. She said, "I will ride my bike again tomorrow!"

Mess/Picture

What a week! Cleaning, Packing, Shopping, Paying Bills, etc.....

Tomorrow is the day! Yes!!! Couldn't wait! We have ben counting days and now its TOMORROW! We will be leaving in the morning as its 4 hours to drive.

Yes that means I can play soccer tonite at 10pm (urgh that late! yet its last game for the session).

Update of my M's reaction and H

As soon as she woke up and said - mommy - are we going up to see grandparents today? I shallowed and said - no we are not. She said - ok, we will go up soon with mama. I said thats what we are going to... More likely right after cruise. She said ok... I have to pinch myself several times to make sure that I'm awake - not in dreamland! *ouch* it is real! ((She is very senstive child - easily upset))

she said she wants me to help her to clean her room today. I said - ok - can't ask for better daughter :o) I'm so proud to say - she is MY daughter!

I'm so relieved! I was so prepared to have a HARD morning but turned out so calm and smooth. Hope that she will staythat way through the day!

H sent me an email from her pager to my pager. She said she had a wonderful time (wonderful??) at the conference - Deaf Women United in New Orlean, Lousianna. She said that I have to go in year of 2009 (its biennual event) and it will be in Portland, Oregon. (perfect - kids will be staying with H's parents). :o)

Back to point, H said she enjoyed the conference so much (so far). She met many old friends and new friends. She will tell me more about it when she gets home this coming sunday.

Me-single mother for other more days!!!

LPGA and SWING

What a beautiful day Yesterday! We were so excited to go LPGA. It was our first time to go there. I was awed! There is so many butch and dykes there. It was amazing to see those professional players who acts like us! So humble!



As soon as we were ready to go back home. We were standing in line, I was checking my pager . I got a message from a babysitter. Oh no! H asked me - what's wrong? I said its from the babysitter. H got so worried and said - what's wrong - is everything ok? I just was chuckling.


Message from babysitter: Don't want you to be panic. My mistake to put her in the swing. Now she is stuck. I can not pull her out. I'm trying to calm her now and figure out how to get her out. I'm thinking what to do next.


I replied: That's ok... Important to remain calm. Take M's shoes off and tell her to straight her leg and feet down. Then pull her out from the swing. It's ok. Please keep me post.


Message from babysitter: Pull her out in front or from back?


I replied: Try both.


Message from babysitter: I tried everything. She still stuck! She is ok. She was upset a little. She is calm now.


I replied: Oh no... Is she crying now? ummm.... I think I will contact one of my freind who live nearby.


Message from babysitter: M said, "I'm a little BIG for this swing"


I sent her other message: Where K?


Message from babysitter: sleeping on me at this moment


I sent a message to my friend who lived nearby to see if she could help. She replied and said she's on way to playground to help babysitter.


I sent babysitter a message : my freind is on the way and tell M - mommy's friend is coming to get you out.


Message from babysitter: I told M. She is very much calm. She's so good!


Message from babysitter: M is out of the swing finally!!!


Friend sent message: LOL, That was my first time I see a kid stuck in the swing. glad to help the sitter. Gave them a ride home and now they are cooling off.

I replied to a friend: Many thanks and I owe you one!!!

Whew.. weekend

Last Friday, We went to soccer game. Mikaela, Kyron and their friends - they had so much fun running around. Poor mama had to chase them around. Finally, she told them to stay in the area. Mama chatted with our old friend. AND She didn't see me making two goals! (freekick) grrrr.... :o) I normally don't make a goal as I tend to play goalie. I would say the last time I made a goal other than sudden death - probably in high school in PE classes. Ha ha...

Saturday, we went to picnic. As soon as we arrived - Mikaela recognized the park and said - ZIPLINE!!!! We couldn't believe that Mikaela do remember!!! We went in line as it was a long long (free). Mikaela was the 6th person to get on. Bad news!!!! Thunder came! They had to closed. Poor Mikaela, she cried cried... Mama and I felt so bad! We know how much it means alot to Mikaela. Poor kid!

After out dinner with our good friends as they are moving to Az in few days. We decided to go Dick's store. Mikaela saw the huge wall of rockclimbing. We knew she couldn't get on bec of height. She was bugging us all the time.. Every a little move, she kept saying - rockclimbing please please... She really beggggggg. I went and checked - my eyes were popped out. ONLY $2.00. I thought it costs more... Why not!! I told Mikaela that I can't promise if you could get in as you weren't tall enough to go... The man who works there, he measured her and said she was off by 1 inch. You have to see Mikaela. She stood up - and said - I can go and climb the rock. That wasn't my first time. The man said, "ok, you look determined and strong." He let her in. (WHEW!!!) She was so proud - wore special shoes they provide. She did a good job. I was surprised. Everytime she goes on, she climbed higher and higher and higher.

We didn't go golf yesterday :o( due to raining so hard here.

Mikaela and Kyron

It's amazing to watch how they treat each other. Mikaela signed to him in ASL. Mikaela used baby brush to rub Kyron's back. Mikaela read books to him. She did many things to him - so sweet.
At other time, Mikaela - BRAT!!! barked at Kyron and pushed him. Wow - Sweet to Brat in few seconds... BUT..... Good news - Brat doesnt stay forever - she will change into sweet in a while... (sometime sooner than I expect and other time - take a while!).

I love to see them team up to do things. So funny... Mikaela doesn't want to go bed. Mikaela sangs a song. Kyron heard her singing, he ran into her room and dancing. Both were laughing... I have to tell them - BEDTIME!! WE can do that in the morning. :o)

My wish for them to be close as they can be... I've seen many sisters/brothers weren't that close. My sister and brothers were close to each other but to me - am not sure if deafness is the factor or the communication part. They treated me good.... Just wish they could do more...
