Easy advent calendar & a little freebie

It's still much too warm in Germany, but Christmas time is approaching quickly. This year, I want to give selfmade advent calendars filled with stories, recipes, and poems to some very special people. The basis for each calendar is a simple 12x12 sheet of scrapbooking paper glued to a 12x12 piece of sturdy cardboard.

Step 1: The numbers
You can either stamp the numbers like I did into the circles of this beautiful paper...


...or you can glue them on. I used a 3/4 inch circle punch to create numbers in matching colors. If you like, you can download my numbers-in-circles design, just print and punch (3 color schemes on one sheet). Click here to download



Step 2: The holes
Beneath the numbers, I used my crop-a-dile to punch small holes through the calendar. If you don't have a crop-a-dile, you can use an eyelet tool or a hole punch out of daddy's toolbox. Punch two extra holes in the upper left and right corner, so the calendar can be hung to the wall.



Step 3: The gifts
That was a load of work... I chose 24 short stories, poems, recipes etc. and printed them on high quality paper. I folded and/or rolled the sheets, tied them to a pretty ribbon and threaded the ribbons through the calendars' holes. A square knot on the back - that's it. I used a small IKEA Allen wrench to push the ribbons through the holes. If you give the calendar to a couple, you can use two different ribbon colors for them to take turns in opening the gifts.


Step 4: Embellishments
You can embellish your calendar(s) as you wish. The only embellishments I used was a little snowflake mirror which I tinted with Adirondack inks to match the paper's colors:


Step: Be happy and present someone with your beautiful creation!

Sew Many Cards

Happy Thursday everyone!!! Here's another fun card! This is a Sewn Together image...isn't he sweet?!


He's colored with copics and paper pieced with some scraps of digi paper and embossed DP from Colorbok! Doodle stitched with SU marker and white gel pen!

I've been wanting to play along in the Sewn Together Tuesday challenge for some time, so when I saw this sweetie FREEbie they were offering, I just had to take the time!

Orson Celebrates!

Hello and Happy Thursday! Can you believe we are over the hump for the first week of August already! Days are flying by....stop this thing, I wanna get off! lol Well, today I have a FREEbie card to show you!

This adorable little monkey is Orson {{Hi Orson! (in unison)}} he is a wonderful creation of Nina's over @There's Magic in the Air! Thanks Nina! {{waving hi}} He's available to you for FREE so you can enter the Magical Monday challenge! How cool is that?! He's colored with prismas!
The sentiment, a MlamarreDesigns digital stamp, is a FREEbie from The Cuttlebug Challenge this week to be used for their challenge. (They'll send you 5 images to play with!) again...too cool!
The DP is a retired SU! paper from awhile back and when I saw the challenge on My Time to Craft, to use your neglected stash and the color challenge on Whimsical Scraps & Bugs~olive, blue, orange, brown & white....well, a perfect match!
The sketch is from Sunday Sketch & Stamp and this card is void of embellies because the ABC challenge this week is the letter "Z" for zero embellishments! eek! I so wanted to put a ribbon on it! I did make some faux brads with my regular hole punch and some molasses Smooch, a pearlized ink! It's shimmery gold flex gives the faux brads an antique look IRL! too fun!

Happy Monday!

This little cutie on my card is from the Miss Bitty set...once again Tracey thought of everything...Miss Bitty comes with wings, w/o wings, different dresses, different expressions, ready to print and that's just one set. Let's just say Tracey was really busy! I'm sure you'll be pleased! I used Martha Stewart papers on this one...I'll have more to show you later! My sketch is based on the sketch this week from Sketch Girl! The colors were inspired by the Simon Says challenge to use summer/fruity colors...I chose lemon & lime...ahhh, refreshing!
