I went to my obgyn appointment today! Tina had to show some houses, poor thing, she's been so sick... which reminds me..I got a flu shot today! My doctor asked where Tina was and I told her she was working and she was sick and she suggested that I get a flu shot. I wondered how long it would take for the flu shot to work, apparently it takes about a week to get in your system before it can fight off the flu. I was convinced Tina had the flu because she's SO sick, but Tina told me she got the flu shot! Hmm...So I guess this flu shot wouldn't protect me from Tina's germs anyway. Anyway, its a great idea since it lasts for 6 months. I would hate to get something and give it to a fragile little newborn. So, during my visit with my doctor, she looked at my chart and saw that I've gained five pounds in the last two weeks and told me that I'm gaining too much weight. She asked me again what I was eatting. I'm not eatting as much as I would like too, that's for sure, but I know I eat more frequently than I did when I wasn't pregnant. I weighed 194 pounds on the doctor scale today and I still have 9 and a half weeks left of my pregnancy. My doctor is this tiny little asian woman who is only 4ft 10in. She's TINY. She told me she gained 40 pounds with her first pregnancy.. I figure 40 lbs on her is a good 70 pounds on me...I'm a whole foot taller than her. I'm 5ft 10in! :) Anyway, I told Tina and she asked me if I want to go have Chinese food. She's the best! She didn't lecture me or anything. In fact she was completely supportive and loving. I think if I force myself to walk every night I won't gain as much as I've been gaining. I've stopped moving. I've been SO tired and LAZY and I have not been moving the way I should be. So, tonight..after Chinese food :) I'm going to walk around the block two times with Spence. YES I AM! I am going to make an effort to be more active. I've been reading a lot about women who gained a ton of weight in their first pregnancy and didn't gain much at all in their second pregnancy because they started walking.
Guess what else I learned during my doctor visit! I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions and not even realizing it. My doctor showed me that I was having one when she measured my belly with the tape measure. Carly measured 31 weeks and we are 30 weeks and four days, so she's PERFECT! Maybe she won't be a 9 pounder afterall!
On a new topic, I heard that ROP is being effected by the budget cuts. I asked my boss if I should start looking for another job and she said no she thinks we'll all get to keep our jobs, just not be able to buy any supplies etc. I might go from full time which is 5/5ths to 4/5ths worst case scenario. I guess they don't have control of that. Their goal is to keep me full time, which would be perfect. We need my salary more than ever. Although, I would enjoy being able to spend more time with Carly.
Tina's home now! Yeah! That means the dogs get to go for a ride in the car and we get to go get delicious Chinese food. I'm going to order Chicken Chop Suey, its vegetables and chicken and I'm going to have HOT TEA! I've missed hot tea so badly! My doctor said I could have it! She knows! She's Chinese!
