Friday's 5th Avenue Goodness

Happy Friday!!!

Today's 365 Cards Scor-it Challenge is scoring a pattern. I was thinking of scoring a pattern on a Fabriano card but remembered this Making Memories 5th Avenue paper that I picked up at Target. I realize that you can't really see how the paper looks but I scored on the blue lines. It makes for a nice unexpected texture on that designer paper.

Here's a close up of the paper...hmmm...still can't really see it but it is there :)

Show us what you got....I'm certainly going to keep this challenge in mind to pep up some old designer paper!!

to a deer friend...

Can you guess what today's 365 Cards Scor-it Challenge? It is a Pop Up card!!! This little dear of a card {lol} folds down to put in a envy and then pops back up when you take it out! The directions are super easy, I found them on the Scor-it website:

No more of me "winging it"...lol. Do the deers look a wee bit familiar? It's from Colorbok's Friendly Forest line...when Ivy told me they were on Clearance I raced over there as soon as I could and loaded up with whatever they had left...Can you see that I have a sentiment stamped on the base? It is A Muse's "to a deer friend". The butterfly is ala a Marvy punch.

This has gone postal to a blogging friend that I just wanted to say "hang in there"...kwim? Who doesn't love happy mail?!!!

I hope that everyone made it through tax day! You all that do your own taxes are troopers, I have mine done...have for years...

wild asparagus family

Today's 365 Cards Scor-it Challenge is a matchbook card! I used double-sided paper by Wild Asparagus. I've actually had it for a bit and thought this would be the perfect project for it. I'm a huge fan of paisley pattern...especially with the splashes of blue!

I cut the paper 4.25 inches by 8.5 inches. I scored it at 1 inch on one side and 3.5 inches on the other. I secured the 1 inch flap down with a simple traditional staple..You could use anything...brad, eyelet, hole punch and ribbon...I personally like the clean & sleek look of the 'ole staple. I used my crocheted ribbon from J's {you know, the non-crunchy one}. See those puffy Thickers?? I ♥♥♥ Peachy Cheap...thanks Latisha for letting me in on that fabulous site!!

Okay, ready for the inside??!!!

Woot Woot!!!! I was cracking myself up when I put this together...those fabulous owlies are by Maya Road that I picked up at Two Peas....they are adhered with a tiny glue dot so that the recipient can, yes, use them in her cardmaking or layouts...whaddya think of that??!!!! I'll let you in on a secret...I'm taking my own advice and sending out my scor-it projects as RAKs...this Wild Aspargus Family card goes to this chick...or should I say owlie? She is going from a Party of 3 to a Party of 4 pretty soon and I thought this was a fun card to send her...I know I'm probably spoiling the surprise but it has gone postal and sometimes it takes her a smidge to blurf...

sassy tri-fold

Today's 365 Cards Scor-it challenge is a Tri-fold. I was absolutely inspired by this Horchow tri-fold card. Why yes, you did read that right, 50 for a steal at only $332.00...cha-ching!

Can you see my black cardstock peeking out? It measures 4.25 x 11 inches. I sewed the Sassafras Rose Thicket paper onto the black cardstock... the sweet scallops hang lower than the black cs.

Here is the tri-fold, well, folded up. I put together a belly band to keep everything together...it just slides right off.

Here's an interior shot...I felt like I should line the card with white since it makes it easier to write a greeting. The scallop end is scored at 3.5 inches and the other end at 2.75 inches. I'd recommend only 2 layers instead of my 3 layers...I scored each piece separately and it makes for a pretty bulky card. I ended up backing the scallop piece with black cardstock because Sassafras always has writing on it..darn it.

Today's 365 Cards Scor-it challenge is a money holder. When I think of money, I think of a wallet. I designed a men's billfold that I glammed up...lol. I used Jenni Bowlin paper....the black starry paper is 7 x 7 that I scored in half, making it 3.5 inches tall by 7 inches long.

I had a ball decorating the front..definitely dehoarded a bunch of goodies including a Maya Road scallop frame, k&co pearls, petaloo flowers and a gorgeous oyster shell sheen button. I used a jewelry tag and the smile is from a {portion of} stamp from the Stampin' Up Tiny Talk set..My tension on the janome is freaking out for some reason...aarrgghhh...but I like to think it gives the project a shabby vintage chic look :)

As you can see by the interior shot, I used a different pattern by Jenni Bowlin as the inside flap. It is 2.5 inches tall. I stitched completely around the billfold in order to secure the various papers down and flat. The interior "v" was made by using my circle punch and my paper cutter..basically, I winged it :)

Gift Card Holder with a Twist!

Woot Woot!!! Today kicks off Scor-it Week on the 365 Cards blog! Pam will be doing a tut on a gift card holder, I thought I'd join in on the fun. I googled gift card holder and came across Heather Nichols' blog, pine is here {she's actually in my google reader}. She has a cute gift card holder that I took and stepped it up a notch and well, used it for something other than a gift card..lol..take a peek.
Take a 4.25 x 11.5 inch piece of cardstock and score it at 3 inches from each end...flip it over and score it in the middle at 5.5 inches....it will then become a "w". {Please note, I was going to have a full blown tut with me scoring and everything but that would have meant that I needed another set of hands and both of my kids were snoozing on Saturday morning when I put this puppy together!} I sewed the middle mountain together and sliced the crease off...you'll see a pic in a smidge.

This is an interior shot...do you see the panel with the "Cupcakes Forever"? I sewed the middle mountain together and sliced off the fold...used a circle punch to finish it off. No gift card here...just some cupcake'licious stamps ala M's {that's my twist..lol!!} Yup, that there would be a Martha cupcake sticker that I've been hoarding...the sentiment is a wood block M's $ stamp.

I just think that Amy Butler papers are sooo fun, happy & girlie...

Well, there you go...I had a fun, fun, fun time putting this little gift card holder together...the mini Scor-it is most fabulous...especially for me since I don't have my own dedicated room for all my treasures...space is at a premimum. The scores are truly crisp and most magnificent. For you gals that are mobile self-contained units, the mini would be perfect for you.

Naomi...this my dear is for you!!! email me your snail mail and I'll pop it in the mail to you....why? read this...and the first comment on this post...2 words for you...dingle balls...LOL!!
