Kumba Yah!

Doesn't Riley look like he's enjoying himself at the campfire! Oooo, yummy marshmallows blackened on the outside gooey on the inside.

It has been too hot and too light out to enjoy sitting around our backyard fire ring. I long for the cooler nights of fall!

This card was made for the Hanna Stamps August Release Party Sketch Challenge. That's a mouth full!!

I really like the look of kraft cs for the base. The brown panel is textured cs. I brayered mellow moss ink on a white piece of cs for the background of my pine tree. The tree is stamped in always artichoke with choc chip accents. Riley is colored with SU markers of cocoa and creamy caramel. Again, I smudged/shaded around Riley with pastels. That's my new favorite *technique*! The final touches: a piece of hemp tied around the bottom and two brown punched circles at the top. I was going to put brads in the circles, but liked it without. Less is more and all that jazz! Riley is so fun to work with, you can find a bunch of Rileys over at Hanna Stamps, check it out!

I've been taking advantage of some of the sales I've been mentioning on my blog and have been receiving some new "rubbah" lately! I just love when that UPS truck pulls in the lane!!! But I haven't had a chance to ink them up yet...need more hours in the day!!! Oh, have you checked out Craig's List yet.......I've purchased SU stamp sets cheap through local ads. www.craigslist.com , you simply find your state/city and who knows your unknown neighbor could be selling just what you want!! People are cleaning out for the money or to make room for the "new". Especially now, with the new SU catty coming out next week. How exciting! Be blessed!

Bookworm Hanna

This is from Hanna Stamps ~Bookworm clear stamps set. The Hanna Stamps Challenge (HSC27) was to use stitching. Tami, the challenge hostess made a really cute card that was stitched with the edge torn and turned up! What a neat idea, so I gave it a try! I used w. wasabi cs and K&co DP. Bookworm Hanna is relaxing in a watercolored outfit and chair with brown pastel smudging around the edge! There is a sweet little boho flower in the corner for fun! We could use any type of stitching~real or faux. Well, guess which I chose? Faux, of course! But believe me it would be that uneven with a machine too...it's the look I was going for!!!

This could be me, in my green leather chair with a book! Ok, so my ankles aren't really that thin, but I'm talkin' about the "image"! One of my favorite things to do is curl up in a comfy chair and read...when I'm not stamping!

Christmas in July!

Christmas in July!??? That's the Hanna Stamps Challenge HSC26. Riley is relaxing a little after decorating the tree while visions of wrapping packages dance in his head. And the SCS Technique Lover's challenge today TLC178 has three separate challenge combined in one.....so, this card qualifies for five challenges! whoo! We were to use TLC20 (babywipes technique), CC30 (burgundy&cream), SC40 (this layout-I enlarged the bottom circle)!

I started with a burgundy base and attached a panel of dp from MME. The christmas tree (?) is stamped in blk stazon and the stars are colored with yo yo yellow then clear embossed-I used a versamarker to ink just the stars. I used the baby wipes tech. on the creamy caramel paper then punched small circles. The gift stamp is from Hip Hip Hooray and the sentiment is from Peace be unto You. Riley is watercolored with lid colors of wasabi, burgundy and cocoa.

It was fun doing a Christmas card! Especially during this heatwave we're experiencing! I had the pleasure of a few ladies today at my stamping table. Hi {waving}! It was lovely to stamp and chat. And when we were all done, we had to sort the stamps and make sure everyone went home with their own supplies.....oh well, we borrow from each other anyhow so everything would return to it's original owner someday! Clean house...lazy stamper??!!

I've been sweeping the room with a glance far too often and felt it needed alittle more attention today! Upon taking a break (and checking today's challenge at SCS) I remembered this wise Hanna saying," A clean house is a sign of a lazy stamper!" Well far be it from me to be thought of as lazy!!!! So I sat right down (actually, I was sitting...taking a break) and attacked that empty pink passion card base. Today's challenge was to use minis, mini anything. So here's my take on it! The DP is from MME and to me resembles grandma's wallpaper! I used the sketch from yesterday's challenge. Hanna is, of course, from Hanna stamps and is watercolored-my daughter suggested the matching dress/apron. The mini images of cleaning detail are from a 1995 SU stamp set: Chore Chart found at a year sale! They are inked in passion pink but came out red!!! Not to happy about that. Oh, and the ribbon from craigslist, yeah! I had to put a little bling in the corner, right? Don't you wear bling when cleaning? I do! no, really I do!!!! Hope you enjoy this one, just for fun!!!

My prayer for you today is peace! Peace that only comes from knowing Jesus and trusting in him alone! He brings contentment so you can look at the world (or your messy house) and see beauty in everything and everyone! Just think He created all this for you!!!! Enjoy it!

Sweet Dreams.......embossing resist.

As soon as I saw this little lamb from Hanna Stamps I knew I wanted to do something for baby. It's so sweet.

My baby just turned 10! Hard to believe and while it would be fun to have a baby with all the teens/preteens in the house.....I'm enjoying this new phase. They can all fend for themselves...which leaves me time for stamping! yeah!! Note: I do not in anyway neglect my children to stamp. :)

The technique used on this card is soo kewl and easy. Simply take a white card, stamp your image in Versamark and clear emboss. Next, choose a color, load your brayer and ink the card. It will look splotchy at first but as the white cs absorbs the color it will even out. When dry, take a tissue and wipe off any ink on the embossed image and POP! There you have it! My daughter used this technique with the flowers from Best Blossoms (SU!) (it resembled a Hawaiian shirt) so she cut it into the shape of a surfboard to embellish a card. Too cute! This card was for the DIY-DP, Friday's Splitcoast Stampers Limited Supply Challenge. (Do It Yourself-Designer Paper) And this technique fits under my label for money-saving tips! Stacked Ribbon Challenge

Ok, this was the first time I did one of Splitcoast Stampers challenges! It was "try a new technique", use 2 or more ribbons as an embellishment. Sounds easy, huh? Well that's what I thought until I realize my ribbon supply was somewhat limited. I finally came up with this woven pattern and pulled out my Hanna stamps and here it is!

I really like the sentiment! I had fun using SU markers and a watercolor brush to color in Hanna and the cat, who is from Punny Farm (MFT). I wasn't very happy with it at first, but it kinda grows on you after awhile. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Kindred Spirits........

Finally ordered a Riley! Again, the DP is from old scraps, don't know the company......I have so many scraps to use up, they will last for the rest of the year! I choose this paper to match Riley's chair. I used a dab of Crystal Effects (SU!) for a liquid look in the cup. This card is for a girlfriend I've know since childhood! Her life is sooo busy right now and I just wanted to encourage her and let her know how impressed I am with the way she's staying on top of things.
The image is watercolored with SU markers: close to cocoa, cameo coral & creamy caramel. Oh, and the turquoise one! Punched So Many Sayings w/word window.
