YES ! You have to read this WHOLE post ! there will be a test

Syd, 5 year appointment. She has been sick, absolutely SICK for weeks about getting her kindergarten shots. It didn't help that her Uncle Brian told her that they hurt really, really bad and that he cried pretty hard. NICE ! He's 34 years old by the way.

Syd weighed in at 41 lbs, she's 45 inches tall. That roughly puts her at 90% for height and 50% for weight. Her BMI, and yes, they do keep track of body mass index now. fell just below normal into the low. I'm ok with that. (wish I had the same)
She passed each test with ease and confidence. Freakishly strong...like her mother. ;)
Eyes and hearing- great. Wears a helmet and her seat belt, doesn't smoke (didn't know what cigarettes were and the ped. told me that now is a good time to start telling her about terrible things in life such as cigarettes and drugs)

Next. SHOTS. She screamed harder than she did when she was a baby. The nurse had to hold both legs between her own. I held her arms and she still managed to break the first needle off squirming and moving so much.
FOUR SHOTS she got! She screamed for 3-5 minutes after it was over....I wished that I could have let her latch on to quiet her down. for the love Syd....
She got to chew gum and pick 2 stickers out.
Good hell that was an ordeal.

Syd is still in pull ups at night. We haven't really tried to help with the issue. and by try I mean, we let her have water before bed. We don't stop her from drinking after 6pm. Whatever.
Funny how many people won't talk about this subject. It's VERY common and VERY normal. The pediatrician said that a lot of kids won't go dry until they are 7-8 years old, at night.
Class notes :
There is a hormone that the brain releases that slows our kidneys down. Some kids are late bloomers in getting that hormone working.
Sometimes it's genetics.
Sometimes it's how hard they sleep.
Either way. No big deal.
Her pediatrician said that we could wake her up a couple of times at night and take her to the bathroom. She said it might work on keeping her dry but it won't train her body. If we stop waking her, she'll continue waking up wet. so who's that training Syd or the moms.
She doesn't wake up wet everyday either. She'll go several days dry and then one wet and then several days dry.
I'd like to save on the cost of pull ups but that's my only hang up. I hope this helps some of you to not worry about it, IF you should be faced with a child who doesn't stay dry at night.

Syd also has night terrors. I'm going to post a sceh-eh-eh-eh-hhdy story, later though. So for now lets just leave it at, she has them...wished she didn't...especially because she shares a room with Ryan.

Syd is SUPER smart ;) She reads like a rock star. She knows her 1 times tables :)
She can add double numbers. oh yes she can. well she can add a double number to a single number. she has a memory from hell and can still remember when mama scratched her neck and pulled her hair 2 years ago. (don't ask)

Syd is an amazing gymnast. She's working on roundoff back handsprings now.

She JUST learned how to ride her bike minus training wheels. She jumped on and was out of the gate with a purpose. She of course wobbled and tipped over a few times.
But then she was off. and by off I mean, she left J in the DUST !
She has not been allowed in the street up until this point and was told that once she could turn around she was free to move about the city. She immediately turned around in the driveway and took to the asphalt.
(new trick to pull out of a hat...how to keep the little boys from following her in to the street)

Syd is dramatic, beautiful, sweet, sensitive, loving and has an amazing personality and a ginormous heart. All of these qualities scare and excite me for her future.
I have this HUGE job helping her to grow and become the amazing person these qualities give her the potential to be. I really don't want to let her down.
I'm tellin' ya, this girl will fly one day....nothin' will keep her down. (hopefully this won't involve a parachute or drugs)

Could she be a prouder girl !
Thank you for staying until the end. Next up...Spencer !
