crafty goodness...

Happy Saturday!!!

I have a couple projects to share with you today...seems I'm in a red mood:)

First up is Laura's sketch 36:

I decided to use a black ShortCuts gift card folder {get them while you can!!}. I love the dp, red & blue is simply one of my favorite color combos! I fashioned a black removable belly band {with PTI vintage buttons and Kaiser bling} to keep the gift folder closed...

Here's the interior....I wanted to do a playful inside so I used one of my much hoarded hambly owls:)

Next is a fabriano My Cute Stamps card!! The cute mushie is from the You're Tweet set!

funny, huh? I know 'd' will love it :)

Are you still with me? Here's a Cutting Cafe Card!!

I used the Circle shaped card...love shaped cards! I teamed it up with the Huge Happy Belated Birthday circle printable. This has gone postal to a blogging buddy...hope she like it!!! I used Jenni Bowlin dp, Stampin' Up Riding Hood Red cs, PTI buttons, a Kaiser pearl, ric rac and of course, MM tiny alpha stickers...love those!

happiness and fabulous...

Well, today is the last day of 365 Cards ShortCuts week so I have that project to share with you. I also squeezed in time to play along with the 2 Sketches 4 You peeps...

First up is my ShortCuts project:

ShortCuts Week, Day 7.

365 Cards Challenge:

Use Paint.

This was a great challenge for me because I've been wanting to paint up my lollipop flowers and glitter them up, just needed the motivation :)

I had it all planned out to use the Tim Holtz paint daubers that I picked up last year at a fabulous garage sale...well, I put those puppies in a really good "spot" and can't seem to remember where that would be....grrr....Luckily I have other traditional craft paints and based my project around the green paint that I used. The paper is vintage K&Co...I still love it, I never seem to tire of paisley. The panel on the interior of the card is actually folded in half so that I could write my message on the inside of the fold. The glitter is from Impress...The center of the flower are 2 foof-a-la buttons topped with a Kaiser Craft pearl. I used the "happiness" stamp from the Stampin' Up Warm Words set...it is in the lower right hand corner of the interior panel.

This was designed especially for a co-worker that recently eloped. They are having their wedding reception this afternoon...

If you haven't figured it out already...I simply adore the ShortCuts frosted card bases...they are absolutely fabulous. This has been a wonderfully fun week filled with ShortCuts products and projects.

Next up is my take on Laura's sketch 30...I've been wanting to use the Blog Printable stamps by the Cutting Cafe and thought this would be the perfect opportunity.

I used the MME Bliss line for my paper...gotta love the red/blue combo...I also used a SU Baja Breeze Corduroy and a PTI vintage button...love to stack them. I decided to stitch the bottom rectangular panel to give it some oomph.

There you have it....I was a busy bee this week and didn't have a chance to join in any other challenges until today. I'll be back into the challenge swing next week.

ShortCuts Week, Day 6.

365 Cards Challenge:

Paper Piercing

With the help of my friend & co-worker, I've recently discovered the wonderful goods by Webster's Pages, specifically their Journaling cards. They are mini pieces of art! I have a hard time covering them up or slicing into them but I thought it was only appropriate to make a birthday card out of one of them for my co-worker.

I did a smidge of piercing for the challenge and then opt'd for clean and crisp. I seriously was going through my embellie stash but didn't want to "clutter it up". It was perfect to nestle onto a ShortCuts frosted card base...

There are sooo many creative ways to use the piercing technique. I can't wait to see yours!

ShortCuts Week, Day 5.

365 Cards Challenge:

Use a quote on your card.

Today's ShortCuts projects uses one of their most fabulous Gift Card Holder Folders! My poem is a quote stamp from the Stampin' Up set, Edgy Eloquence, it's a fun set to have! It is a W.C. Fields quote that says: "Start every day with a smile and get it over with." I made this for one of my bosses...she didn't say anything about her birthday and I found out it was on Friday....I know that she'll chuckle at the quote. Our job keeps us on our toes, you never know how the day is going to be from one minute to the next.

I still ♥♥ the Stampin' Up Haiku dp...sooo pretty....I used my Martha butterfly punch, a foof-a-la button {hey Elaine, check it out, it isn't a nakey button I actually used thread...grrr...I need to buy embroidery thread...that took way too long}.

Here's the interior of the Gift Card Holder folder...isn't that bird adorable? It is an American Crafts rub on...I wanted to bring out that fabulous robin's egg blue so I dehoarded some of my Vinyl Thickers...
I love the offray polka dot ribbon which is wrapped around the gift card holder. Although the pic is with a Starbucks card, it was really a Nordy's card that I popped in for her...which I bought after I took the pics :)

ShortCuts Week, Day 4

365 Cards Challenge:

Bind two pieces of something together {cardstock, plastic etc} to create a card. For example, use a hole punch and then attach using metal rings or yarn.

Okay, did you read my post from yesterday...I tell you I was in full creative mode...you know when that is....you forget about eating meals...don't hear the phone ring...or the fire detector {just kiddin'}. Anyways, I had the house to myself and I was minding my own business, creating away when one thing lead to another and my card blossomed into a mini album...shhhh...don't tell Pam...I'm thinking it is me being an overachiever and instead of it being a 2 page card it is a 4 pager...like some of the text messages I send out:)

I know how this all started...I cut a piece of full size frosted ShortCuts into 4 so that I could run it through my Big Kick with the Top Note Die. I decided, what the heck, I'll go ahead and just run all 4 through the diecutter. Then I started picking out my Sassafras papers and like I said, one thing led to another....The ring that binds the pages together is from a tape measure that I hijacked from my junk drawer..it has 2 charms on it, one is a beefy flower {as in solid, kwim?} and the other is an "inspire" charm.

I cringe at my handwriting but 40 years from now when I need to pull all the 'ole readers, I'll think, Jeez Amy, what a sloppy writer you were! LOL! Anywho's, thanks for making it all the way down to the end of my very long winded post....do I take Gloria's Rebel Crown or am I forgiven as an Over Achiever? LOL

ShortCuts week, Day 3.

Today's 365 Cards Challenge:

Black, white and red all over.

Today I used a clear ShortCuts card base. The design of the card was really inspired by this Nichole Heady post, Introducing In Bloom. This is my take on these cards. I used Stampin' Up Riding Hood Red dp & the Sweet Sentiments set {btw, oddest thing, I have 2 of those sets...how in the heck did that happen??}...my favorite chandie image by Impress and a PTI vintage button....super clean & crisp.

Remember to check back tomorrow...I'll be posting a project that "went out of control"...I might have to take Gloria's Rebel Crown away from her...one thing lead to another and oy vey, you'll just have to pop back tomorrow.

ShortCuts week, Day 2.

Today's 365 Cards challenge:

Create a window on the card using plastic

Boy, I fussed with this for awhile...I had all these ideas swirling around but as soon as I started slicing into my precious papers I kept finding out that the ideas weren't going to work out like how I wanted them to. Ahhhh...don't you love it when THAT happens? Well, as I said before, I'm a persistent whipper snapper so I decided to fall back on clean & simple. I have a ton of Making Memories frames...remember when the metal ones were all the rage? I have a ton of them, found them at Big Lots. This particular one is a gorgeous suede. I made it into a shaker...used some of the ShortCuts clear sheet, found some old beads and foam tape...there you have it. The owlie rub on is ala Stampin' up, isn't she sweet? The sentiment is American Crafts, the pearl Kaiser Crafts. All the goodies are nestled onto a frosted Shortcuts card base...love them!

Can't wait to see what YOU design....
